About

Along with providing many opportunities for your school and pupils, Derby County Community Trust are also an accredited partner of the association for Physical Education, allowing us to work with your staff to support their Level 5 and 6 qualifications in Subject Leadership.

These qualifications aim to upskill primary school teachers and experienced teaching assistants to improve the overall quality of the PE curriculum. The courses are also appropriate for coaches working within schools.

The Level 5 course takes one year to complete and will involve attending six training sessions, usually half termly. Those with qualified teacher status can go on to complete the Level 6 qualification which takes approximately two terms.

The courses aim to increase in delegates’ confidence, competence and PE subject knowledge, which in turn allow them to raise standards through high quality PE teaching in your school.

“I knew the qualification would be good for the school to give us a platform to build from. It’s had a great impact on not only my teaching of PE, but given me the leadership skills to support staff across the school to ensure we are providing children with high quality PE lessons. The Level 5/6 qualifications have allowed me to develop my subject knowledge even further and to build a team throughout the whole school.”
