About
In partnership with the EFL and the University of South Wales, Derby County Community Trust are your local providers of a range of degrees which enable learners to gain their qualifications in a professional sporting environment.
Starting every September, we provide a number of opportunities to gain a full degree qualification across three years, specialising in a number of sports-related subjects.
These include:
- Community Football Coaching and Administration (BSc)
- Sports Coaching and Development (BSc)
- Sports Business and Management (BA)
The courses are suitable for students of all ages.
You’ll gain a vast array of experiences within Derby County Football Club’s community setting alongside gaining your FA Level 2 Coaching qualification in a work-based placement.
Lectures will be delivered within a sports setting and cover topics including: sports science, physical education and school sport, strategic sports development and football in society.
Students will also visit the University of South Wales in Cardiff biannually.
You will gain the unrivalled experience of learning and developing in a wider football club and sports setting with the opportunity to further your experience with part time volunteering or paid roles within the Trust.
University fees apply and Student Finance is available to all full-time learners. Learners should apply directly through UCAS, but our Education team are on hand to support the process and welcome potential students to get in touch before applying.

Our next open evening will take place on Monday 21st October, 6pm-8pm in the Toyota Suite at Pride Park Stadium.
6pm arrival for a prompt 6.30pm start.
“I’ve enjoyed working in local secondary and primary schools assisting and putting on sessions for children and helping run the secondary school’s football team after school to support my degree. I’ve also been able to complete my FA coaching badges whilst on the course.”
