Successful day for Football and Education
Derby County Community Trust's Football and Education teams enjoyed a successful afternoon, recording three wins and a draw from their five fixtures across the EFL CEFA Divisions this afternoon.
Starting in Central Division Three, the Rams faced Wolverhampton Wanderers ‘D’ and were looking to avenge their 7-0 loss at the hands of West Brom last week.
Despite struggling to get out of the blocks in the opening ten minutes playing against a cutting wind, the Rams found their groove and took a deserved lead two minutes before the half time break.
In the second half the game was finely poised, however a combination of solid defending and high pressing led to the Rams second eight minutes from full time, putting the game beyond doubt.
Elsewhere in Central Division Two, Derby kicked off their season with a narrow 1-0 victory over Wolves ‘C’ – whilst in Central Four, the Rams ran out 4-0 winners over Mansfield Town.
A tighter affair in Central One saw Derby on the wrong end of a 3-2 score line at Burton Albion, whilst in the newly formed North Central One, The Rams shared the spoils, drawing 3-3 at home to Barnsley.
PLAYER OF THE MATCH
A big well done to today's player of the match from our featured game against Wolves D, awarded to attacker Matt who was a handful for the Wolves defenders all afternoon, creating a number of key chances and communicating well with his team mates.
