NCS Waves Two and Three Update
We’ve finished another two waves of this summer’s NCS programme. Across the two groups 150 young people from across Derby took part in a weeklong residential. The week, which was at Dearne Valley in Doncaster, was made up of activities and workshops aimed at challenging the young people’s problem solving, communication and team working abilities.
Returning to Derby they took part in a variety of fund-raising activities and raised almost £4000 for a number of local and national charities which include Save the Children, The Hope Centre, Bridge The Gap and The Alzheimer’s Society.
Emma Pilgrim, Events and Projects Manager, said: “These two waves have picked up where our first wave left off! They have done a fantastic job at raising a considerable amount of money for some amazing causes.
“Not only that though they have all bonded as a group and have all come so far in different ways from where that were at when they joined us on the programme.
“We have one group left to go take part in the programme and I’m excited to see how they get on and what differences they can help make in their local communities.”
