Derby County Community Trust Hosts Girls Cup First Round

Derby County Community Trust hosted the first round of the EFL Utilita Girls Cup. Ten sides from across schools came together to` compete for the right to represent Derby County in the regional round, taking place in Sheffield in January.

After a round robin tournament, Chellaston, Heanor Gate, Shirebrook and Hope Valley made the semi-final stage. Chellaston continued their unbeaten run and booked their place in the final against Heanor Gate.

Chellaston ran out winners in the final and will go onto represent Derby County in the regional round in Sheffield.

Zack Yates, PL Kicks Co-Ordinator, said: “It was great to have so many girls together playing football and more importantly having fun.

“The standard was really high this year and all the girls should be proud of how they did today and how they represented their schools.

“They all deserve a big well done and a special congratulations goes to our winners Chellaston, and I wish them the best of luck in the next round.”
