Brewers Victorious in Inaugural Clough Challenge Cup

PL Kicks

Derby County Community Trust welcomed teams from Burton Albion and Nottingham Forest to take part in the first Clough Challenge Cup, as the final event in our Black History Month calendar.

The event saw the three Trusts bring their Premier League Kicks participants together to play social football and gain new skills.

The day saw the three teams compete for the cup, alongside taking part in a music workshop, ran by local hip hop charity, Baby People.

All games were played in great spirit, with Burton Albion lifting the cup following a 2-0 victory against the Rams, and another win against Forest where the score was 1-0.

Zack Yates, PL Kicks Co-ordinator at Derby County Community Trust, said:

“It’s been a fantastic month for our Kicks participants so to finish it off with an event in Derby, where we hosted two great teams, was a brilliant way to commemorate the end of Black History Month.

“While it was a chance to play competitive football, we also recognised the importance that the month has for our participants and our programmes, and it was great to reiterate that message today before the month came to an end.”

Premier League Kicks is our leading Community Engagement programme, delivered in the hearts of communities on local parks and in community centres.
