SECONDMENT OR CONSULTANCY OPPORTUNITY
3 days per week, fixed until March 2025
Secondment or Consultancy opportunity
Pay: Competitive (range £295 to £450 day rate)
This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious and experienced leader to strategically direct a new attendance programme aiming to improve school attendance across Derby City. As a Priority Education Investment Area, funded by Department for Education, a range of organisations are working collaboratively to improve attendance and reduce persistent absence.
School is not easy for every child, and missing school can put children off learning, cause anxiety, and make school feel more challenging than it needs to be. Your role is to support and challenge our schools, to develop effective processes that reduce children’s barriers to attendance.
We are looking to appoint an experienced person who can lead a city-wide attendance programme that helps support the achievement of pupils. You will be able to relate well to staff, support the good practice in place and not be afraid to challenge leaders when necessary.
In Derby we have an Inclusion Partnership that is committed to embedding an Inclusion Charter aiming to build an inclusive culture across the city. We value being brave and would like to hear from those who share our commitment and vision and would like to join a team of likeminded colleagues.
The ideal candidate will understand the impact low attendance has on a child’s life chances and be determined to make a difference. You will be able to demonstrate the ability to learn rapidly, adapt your approach to different needs and, above all else, never give up on any child.
In this new role, you will be responsible for:
- Working closely with a range of partners including Derby City Council, Derby City Inclusion Partnership and schools to oversee the PEIA Attendance Programme.
- Analysing data to guide interventions and evaluate their impact.
- Co-ordinating a range of professional development opportunities.
- Capturing school, pupil and family voice to inform the development of the programme.
- Overseeing a grant funded budget
- Reporting to a working group to steer the programme.
- Ensuring a sustainable approach to ensure impact beyond the funding period.
The post is suitable for a secondment or a consultant. It is a city-wide post with the option to hot desk at DCCT offices and to work remotely some of the time.
This role is 3 days per week on a term time basis (40 weeks per year) until March 2025.
For an informal discussion about the role please contact Jo Wilkinson, Inclusion Partnership Manager [email protected]
