Derby County Community Trust has a clear mission.  We harness the power of Derby County Football Club to improve lives and communities through sport, physical activity, health and education.  We help more than 25,000 people per year and our work is recognised and respected at regional and national levels.  Since 2008 we have been encouraging participation and achievement in sport, improving health and wellbeing, providing and enhancing education and promoting equality and diversity.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Physical Activity and Health Officer to join our growing Health department, working across our substance misuse programmes.   You will work in partnership with specialist substance misuse treatment services, to support substance misusers with social and community integration, enabling them to lead meaningful lives.

You will have the ability to communicate with clients in a positive and friendly manner to encourage them to overcome barriers whilst engaging in physical activity and healthy lifestyle programmes. This will include the delivery of appropriate physical, social and recovery based activities to either individuals and/or groups.

With at least one year’s experience working in substance misuse, you’ll be a self-starter with the ability to manage your own workload and priorities.  You’ll have demonstrable experience of communicating effectively with a variety of people from personal and professional backgrounds, the ability to demonstrate an empathetic and person-centred approach, with an understanding of how sports and physical activity could have a positive impact of individuals.

  • Workplace pension scheme
  • Cash Health Plan including 24 hour EAP, GP service, health related discounts and a discount shopping scheme
  • Life Assurance scheme (minimum 3x salary benefits)
  • Annual leave of 20 days per year (excluding bank holidays), increasing each year to a maximum of 25 days per year
  • Christmas Shutdown (in addition to annual leave)
  • Training & Development opportunities
