Derby County Community Trust's flagship event returned to its usual Springtime slot for the first time since 2019 yesterday.

Over 3,000 runners signed up to take on the challenge at the event, which was celebrating its 20th anniversary. Sponsored by local quality sportswear brand, HUUB Design, the city was awash with emerald T-shirts in recognition of the landmark occasion.

The weather was on side as thousands lined up on the start line, with three waves of runners setting off at 9am. Winding their way around Pride Park, then through the city centre before returning to the home of the Rams, 2021's champion Samuel Moakes defending his title with an impressive 31:07 race time.

Shortly behind him followed female winner, Lily Partridge, who took 12 seconds off the female course record in a convincing performance, crossing the line in 34 minutes and 24 seconds.

Amongst the thousands of participants were some incredible fundraisers. Members of staff from the Community Trust took part alongside participants from their programmes.

The Derby 3K, sponsored by Motorpoint Derby, took place after the main event, and was started by 13-year-old Tilly Hunt, who was fundraising for the Children's Brain Tumour Research Centre after her own diagnosis.

Simon Carnall, Head of Community at the Trust, said: "It's been great to return to our usual April slot. The sun is shining and it's been fantastic to see thousands of runners here today.

"The funds raised from his event go towards supporting so many of our vital projects and we can't thank all our runners enough for taking part."

Next year's Derby 10K date will be announced in June, in line with football fixtures, and runners can register their interest now at www.derbycountycommunitytrust.com
