Ram Slam Returns!
Returning to Spondon Cricket Club for the first time since 2019, Ram Slam 2022 saw the Derby County Allstars compete with Spondon in the Colin Bloomfield Charity Cricket Cup from 2pm on Sunday 17th July.
The sun shone over the afternoon, which raised hundreds of pounds for the Trust's various programmes, as the Allstars lost their crown to the Spondon side in the T20 match.
The family-friendly affair saw Rams fans flock to the Rams Heritage stand to see various items of prized memorabilia from across the years, including the statue of Dave Mackay which was recently won at auction by the event organiser and Trust supporter, Neil Bennett.
The event was also attended by Derby North MP, Amanda Solloway, who conducted the coin toss, and the trophy was presented by local entrepreneur and inspirational speaker, Kavita Oberoi OBE.
Roger Davies, who captained the Allstars side, said:
"It was fantastic to see the Ram Slam return. It's always a great event for all the family, and it's a great way to catch up with old friends.
"Although it would have been nice to retain our crown, it's just about the taking part today!"
Other attendees on the day also included local artist Tom Walsh, who performed his 'Derby Til I Die' single, and auctioneer Charles Hanson, who supported the Rams Heritage Trust, and of course - Rammie!
The total fundraised is in excess of £1,000, with further donations from stalls on the day to be received. All proceeds go directly towards supporting community projects.
The Ram Slam will return in summer 2023, with the date to be announced in the new year.
