Last week Derby County Community Trust hosted a Primary Schools Track and Field competition. Twelve schools from across Derby were represented by 144 children, taking part in 18 events, including long jump, 150m sprints and javelin. Silverhill ‘A’ were named overall winners on the day. Cavendish Close, who had previously won the competition finished in second place with Water Evans ‘A’ coming third.

Jack Southwart, Primary Education and Schools Lead, said: “It was great to see so many of our schools together taking part. The day went really well with all the children enjoying themselves and supporting their classmates throughout the day.

“It’s great to see so many of them getting involved in different sports and having the opportunity to get out and practice them and hopefully continue to take part and stay active as they progress through school.”
