PLPS Girls Cup Regional Finalists Decided

Oakwood juniors pose for a team phots with their new trophy

This week saw the final round of the Premier League Primary Stars Girls Cup take place, with a competitive competition to find the winner.

Various schools from across Derbyshire battled on the pitch at Lees Brook Academy, aiming to lift the trophy and become the representative team for Derby.

A group stage saw two groups for 4, with the top teams progressing to the final knockout rounds.

Only one team could go all the way and that was Oakwood Juniors. Clinical in front of goal, they were full of confidence and worked together as a team to go all the way.

Oakwood will now head to the regional round as Derby County’s Representative school, with the regional competition taking place at Moor Farm Training ground.

We really appreciate the effort from every school team, with a lot of talent on display once again. It was nice to see some familiar faces amongst the teams, with some of them part of our Emerging Talent Centre at the Trust.

Well done to Oakwood, who were consistent with their performances from start to finish, going unbeaten throughout the competition.

Walter Evans C of E Primary were given the fair play award during the tournament, after they demonstrated the Premier League Primary Stars values.
