Late goals leave Derby on the wrong side of the score

Players celebrate their equaliser

Two late goals for Aston Villa saw them pick up a 3-1 win over our Football and Education side, with goalkeeper Sam putting in a fantastic performance to help keep his side in the game, earning him Player of the Match.Player of the Match SamVilla started the game quickly and took the lead before Sam's heroic's kept the deficit down. The 'keeper sprung to his right to keep out a penalty after the referee had pointed to the spot. He continued with his positive performance which gave Derby a base to get back into the game and they had an effort cleared off the line towards the end of the half.

Derby had two good chances at the start of the second half but were unable to get back on level terms before a stunning save from Sam ensured they remained just one behind. Villa then fired over the bar as the two sides traded chances with Derby also coming close.

As the game looked to be staying at 1-0 Derby broke forward and the ball was calmly rolled into the bottom corner to reward the players for their strong second half performance. Unfortunately Villa quickly restored their lead before making it 3-1 shortly before the final whistle to ensure they went home with the win.

In our other matches Derby County 'A' won 4-0 away to West Bromwich Albion and Derby County 'B' ran out 5-3 winners at Coventry City. Our female side also picked up a win as they beat Manchester City 12-1.
