DCCT welcome over 3,000 runners to Derby 10K!

People running the Derby 10K

On Sunday 6th April, Derby County Community Trust hosted their annual 10K event at Pride Park Stadium, marking their 23rd year since the beginning of the popular Derby 10K race.

DCCT had over 3,000 runners participating on the day, making for a busy race village and vibrant community feel.

Official sponsors of the event were Huub Design, Document Network Services and Lead I.T Services.

A number of local faces also joined the Trust on the big day including, Butler's Pantry, Impact Physio, Treetops Hospice and The Derby Runner, a local specialist running shop in Spondon, who provided the race numbers for the event.

The Derby 10K is so important for the runners locally, because they rarely get a chance to come and do a race through the streets of the city, and particularly on such a large scale. It's a great chance for all the runners of various abilities from beginners to experience runners to come and do an achievable distance, raise money for charity and get together to create this camaraderie that the local running community is so well known for.

Rob Jefferies, Director of the Derby Runner.

It was fantastic to see so many runners take part in the event. The weather was on our side and we've received some lovely feedback from runners, spectators, volunteers and partners. The event is one of our flagship fundraisers and has raised approx. £30,000 which will be invested back in to our community projects. Events of this scale are not possible without the support of our sponsors, stakeholders, volunteers and most importantly the people that take part. Thank you one again to everyone involved and we cant wait to see you in 2026.

Emma Pilgrim, Derby County Community Trust Events and Partnerships Manager.

To prepare the runners, the team at Moorways hosted a warmup before the runners took their positions on the start line to set off at approximately 9:10am.

Joined by the sun and applauding crowds, at 31:29, our first runner, George Phillips crossed the line followed by Alex Hampson at 31:35 and Nicholas Dennis at 31:52.

Shortly after, the top three females finished being Sonia Samuels, in first place with a time of 35:03, Hayley Gill at 36:19 and Laura Bailey at 36:23.

At 10:30am, the fun runners set off before Pride Park began to fill with post-run refuelling of coffee and well deserved treats.

Another year, another fantastic 10K event!
