Live IT is a child weight management programme, targeted at 5- to 17-year-olds, identified on or above the 85th centile for BMI. The healthy lifestyle programme offers support for a year, helping children and their families to achieve and maintain a healthy weight. The service is family-centred, evidence-based and focuses on healthy eating, physical activity and emotional health.

Throughout the holidays the Community Trust deliver various activities for the children on the programme. These include fun valley, Lazer Quest and grow and eat sessions at the Trust’s community allotment, The Dug Out.

Opened in 2021, The Dug Out is based at Little Chester Allotments – supporting a variety of participants of all ages and benefiting their mental and physical health.

Derby County first team forward Dajaune Brown and midfielder, Joe Ward got stuck into a range of activities that the children were taking part in, including a eat well plate treasure hunt and a 'bushtucker trial' with fruit and vegetables. They also helped with some of the allotment maintenance including watering the plants in the polytunnel.

Sara Adcock, Physical Activity and Health Officer at Derby County Community Trust said:

“At the allotment today we have been really lucky as we have had some of our Live It kids come down to do an eat well healthy hunt, look at things that have been growing but also it's been amazing because we have had a real treat as two of the players came down to see what happens at the dug out."

Derby County Community Trust’s Live It programme runs throughout the school year and during school holidays. Children take part in games and activities each week to support a healthy lifestyle and learn about the little changes that can make a big difference. Referrals on to the programme can be made by parents/guardians through the Live Well website.
