Moussa's Story
Meet Moussa
After his parents came to the UK as refugees, Moussa wanted to give back to the community and support others who are experiencing what his family did. This reasoning has seen him become a regular at our refugee sessions as both a participant and now a volunteer coach.
“I definitely feel like I want to give something back to the refugee community. Seeing my dad coming to the country as a refugee and then bringing my mum over to the UK, is what led me to help other people that have been through the same situations at the sessions.”
To help Moussa continue to support on the sessions and to develop his skill set the Trust has put him through his FA Playmaker and FA Level 1 coaching qualifications. The 31-year-old has learnt a lot from his experiences with the Trust so far, both professionally and personally.
“There are a lot of things that I didn’t know that I have now taken into my coaching. There is a lot to it than just turning up coaching, you can see the differences from just playing football and coming into help.
“It’s also given me a different image of the life we live now to what people are going through at the moment and it has made me a humbler person for it.”
Moving forward he is looking forward to continuing the coaching journey that the Trust has helped put him on.
“This is a new journey for me and I’m ready to push forward to complete more qualifications and get some more experiences. I am not sure how far I’ll go but that is the plan.”
