Level 3 Sport @ Friesland School

Venue
Learners will be based within the sixth form at Friesland on a day-to-day basis, experiencing the sixth form environment alongside playing football for Derby County.

The Qualification 
OCR Level 3 Cambridge Technical Diploma in Sport and Physical Activity: This is a two-year course. Learners will study 18 units in a variety of different subjects giving insight into the sports sector, an example of some of the units include Sports Development, Fitness Testing and Psychology in Sport.

Entry Requirements
Minimum four grade 4 GCSE’s, including maths and English.

Timetable
The course is full-time, meaning learners may be expected to be in every day depending on their timetable.

Enrichment
All learners studying on the Level 3 programme can play for one of our football teams alongside their studies, training three times a week and playing in fixtures on Wednesdays in the EFL CEFA league.

Course Assessment
The qualification is assignment based, this means that work will be graded Pass, Merit or Distinction depending on the quality of work that you submit.

Exit Routes – Following completion of the course, there are a variety of different exit routes for you, depending on your final grades and career aspirations. For learners that achieve Merit and Distinction grades you will be able to access a variety of University courses if this is the route that you would like to go down. In addition, several of our learners have also achieved USA scholarships in recent years who are now studying full time in the USA alongside playing football. 

A-Levels @ Friesland School

Venue
Learners will be based within the sixth form at Friesland on a day-to-day basis, experiencing the feel of the sixth form environment alongside playing football for Derby County.

The Qualification
At Friesland, learners can choose 3 A-Levels from the list of subjects that are on offer. Available subjects can be found by scanning the QR code.

Entry requirements
Five GCSEs at grade 5-9, depending on the subjects.

Timetable
The course is full-time, meaning learners may be expected to be in every day depending on their timetable. A typical timetable can be seen below, please note this may be slightly different from year to year.

Enrichment
All learners studying A-Levels can play for one of our football teams alongside their studies, training three times a week and playing in fixtures on Wednesdays in the EFL CEFA league.

Course assessment
A-Levels are primarily exam based with some coursework depending on which subjects learners choose to study.
