Dylan's Story
Meet Dylan
Dylan has been volunteering at Derby County Community Trust for three years and has worked on our HAF programme, the Derby 10K and the EFL Girls Cup as well as helping deliver the Sports Leaders Go Lead qualification and the PLCF Youth Summit to other young people.
Being involved in these programmes has helped Dylan stay out of trouble and provided him with several opportunities.
He said: “By having the opportunity to volunteer I haven’t got involved in anti-social behaviour in the local area and I have become more involved with volunteering at school and I’m working towards my Duke of Edinburgh Award”
To support Dylan with his volunteering the Trust have helped him obtain a number of qualifications and have enrolled him on a referee qualification to reward him for all the hours he has put in.
As well as qualifications Dylan has learnt new skills and is enjoying his work at the trust.
“The volunteering project is great. It has helped with my wellbeing and life skills.” He explained. “The skills that I have learnt have helped me at school and my personal life. I feel very confident working in groups now and speaking in front of other people.”
To become a volunteer with our Inclusion department, contact David Goulding, Inclusion Officer (Community Engagement).
