On Saturday 25th August, the mighty Rams took on Preston North End at Pride Park Stadium, with pre-match and half time entertainment provided by our very own walking footballers!

Before the match, the Derby County walking footballers took on their Preston North End contingent for Rams fans to spectate outside the ground in several 3v3 matches.

They then took to the pitch for a half time game in front of the thousands of home and away fans, in a well matched game which ended 0-0.

Our partners at the Royal British Legion were also on the pitch at half time to present a fantastic centenary blanket that their Spondon group had crafted.

Luke Wilkinson, who co-ordinated the day, said: “It was great to see both sides getting involved before the match and also during the game. Getting the opportunity to play on the pitch is a dream come true for many of our participants and it’s a great showcase for the sport, which so many fans who are over 50 could engage with.”

Walking football is just one of the many options provided as part of our Everybody Active membership, which gets the people of Derby moving from as little as £1 a week. In addition, we’ve got our Forever Active programme for the over 60s to keep active.
