Hilton Primary School win local round and will represent Derby County at the Kids Cup Area Final.
Friday 29th January saw 8 schools from Junior and Primary schools across Derbyshire visit Derby County’s Moor Farm training ground to take part in the U11 Kids Kids Cup local final.
The 8 teams qualified to take part by winning the previous local round competitions against 80 teams from around Derbyshire. The schools in attendance were:
Harpur Hill Primary
Aston on Trent Primary
The day produced a lot of high quality football and following tense group matches and semi finals, Hilton Primary and Melbourne Juniors found themselves facing each other in the final.
It was a close match and a final that could have gone either way. After regular time the score remained 0-0, it took a last minute winner from Hilton Primary to separate the 2 teams.
The final finished 1-0 to Hilton Primary, meaning they would go through to represent Derby County at the Football League Kids Cup Area Final, taking place in Bolton in March.
After the event, Participation Manager at the Derby County Community Trust, Rich Mansfield said:
“It was a great finals and there was a really good standard of play from all teams involved. It’s great to see so many schools coming together, competing well and enjoying the tournaments. We look forward to taking Hilton Primary to the Area Finals”
Derby County Community Trust will be on hand in helping Hilton Primary prepare for the area finals by attending training sessions and helping coach them in the build up to the event.
