Partner Schools

Derby County Football Club has the ability to engage people, raise hopes and aspirations and improve the lives of the people of Derbyshire. As a club, we are committed to ensuring that we respond to local needs while working strategically in line with regional and national agendas.

We recognise that sport plays a prominent role in addressing major issues such as physical inactivity, rising obesity, community cohesion, health inequalities, unemployment and educational attainment and through the diverse range of programmes delivered by Derby County Community Trust, we are having a profound impact on the community we serve.

Our dedicated and professional staff are committed to ensuring that our offer to schools is “best in class”. Our delivery staff, as well as being NGB Level 2 qualified, have all undertaken the AfPE Level 3 qualification and are fully aware and capable of supporting your school’s curriculum and extra-curricular needs.

Derby County Community Trust is proud to host and manage the Derby City School Sport Partnership and this development has not only expanded the provision that we as a Trust can offer to you but also allowed us to bring greater quality assurances and credibility to our core programmes.

DCCT is committed to delivering up to 22 hours of FREE physical activity within all Partner Schools in return for schools accessing paid-for initiatives such as After School Clubs or ongoing PLSS delivery. Partner Schools may chose their FREE activity from the menu below:

Inter Schools Challenge

(Six one-hour sessions)

DCCT coaches work with a year 3 or 4 class to develop a range of basic football skills in a fun and supportive environment. At the end of each session, the pupils complete a number of set challenges which provides their class with a score. This score is then entered into a league table held on the DCCT website which allows schools to compare their results against those of other schools, effectively acting as an inter-school competition that is ongoing throughout the academic year.

Multi-Sports Sessions

(Six one-hour sessions)

Aimed at providing a range of sporting ‘taster sessions’ for year 6 pupils, schools are able to choose from a menu of sports and activities either to enrich the existing PE curriculum delivery or as a reward for completing SATs tests! Sessions may also be geared towards helping children to participate within an upcoming SSP competition where appropriate.

FUNdamentals Sessions

(Six one-hour sessions)

Either delivered as FUNdamentals through football or FUNtastics (gymnastics-themed) sessions, this delivery aims to develop the basic agility, balance and coordination skills of FS2 or KS1 pupils. This is a great way of adding enrichment to the existing FUNdamentals
