YMCA

Looking to roll your sleeves up and put your hands to work? Then we’ve just the project for you!

We’re searching for a team to help us revamp the gardens at Derwent Stepping Stones Nursery in Derby. Having carried out similar projects already at Markeaton Primary School and Harrington Nursery School, we’re keen to support the Derwent team in making dreams for their outside space come true. Using your teamwork skills, a creative spark and a chance to practice your project management skills, you’ll be researching into designs for the garden and how it will benefit the children who attend the Nursery, as well as helping to do the groundwork for the project.

Looking to help bring the local community together? Then we’ve just the project for you

We’re searching for a team to help us continue offering free monthly Community Meals on the last Friday of each month, as well as support our weekly Supper Clubs for YMCA Derbyshire residents. Our monthly meals are held in collaboration with mental health charity HeadHigh, and offer a rare opportunity for individuals, families, community groups and businesses to come together, and get to know one another whilst enjoying delicious dishes prepared by YMCA Derbyshire residents, learners and staff, or guest chefs. Using your fundraising and marketing skills, you’ll be thinking up innovative ways to raise funds for the meals as well as helping to promote them amongst the community. You’ll also get the opportunity to attend/volunteer at one of the Meals in either July or August, as well as attend a youth skills day.

First Steps Derbyshire

First Steps was set up in 2004 by our CEO, Cathy Cleary, as a way to provide non-judgemental support for people suffering with eating disorders living within the Derbyshire area. Having suffered with an eating disorder as a teenager Cathy recognised that there was a lack of provision for sufferers and their families and began a fortnightly support group at a local community room.

Our Wishes have the power to transform the lives of the children and families we work with and since 1990 we have proudly granted over 17,500 Wishes across the UK.
