Derby County Community Trust’s traineeships are designed to support 16-24 year olds who aren’t in education, employment or training back into one of those avenues.
Delivered in partnership with the EFL Trust and Warwickshire College Group, the courses are 12 weeks long and provide learners with a wealth of opportunities, qualifications and work placements.
There is also in-house provision for participants to gain the Functional Skills qualifications in Maths and English if GCSE Grade C/4 hasn’t been achieved.
Along with gaining new qualifications, learners will gain ‘soft skills’ needed to ready themselves for the workplace. These include confidence, motivation, communication and time keeping skills.
There are also key workshops on budgeting, First Aid, team building CV writing, interview techniques and job applications.
Past successes have seen trainees employed within Derby County Community Trust and in partner companies or returning to further and higher education, either on our courses or with other educational settings.
Learners do not need to want to pursue a career in the football or sports industry as we have many links with companies in various industries, including retail, marketing, construction and much more.

“You join the traineeship because of the amount of opportunities that are handed to you on a daily basis, you can get stuck in to so many different options. You’ll come out of the end of it and you’ll be a different person, like I am”
There is also the opportunity for businesses to join our traineeship programme as a verified partner.
By committing to supporting youth unemployment and providing valuable work placement opportunities there are several government grants available to recognise your company’s commitment to the local community.
Please get in touch if you are a business who could offer this support.
