29th of September saw the DCCT Walking Football team take to the Poweleague Soccerdome for their second fixture of the Derbyshire Walking Football Season.

This week saw them prepare for a tie against last years champions, Heanor Strollers, who were looking to build on last years success with a strong start to the new season.

It was a slow start for DCCT as they struggled to deal with the quality of Heanor, at half time they trailed 3-0. A change of tactics in the second half saw Gordon Robison pull one back with a long ranged effort, however Heanor continued to dig deep as they went on to win 6-1.

Following the loss, DCCT Manager Lee Fearnley said:

“It’s difficult to come in and play against a squad with as much experience and quality as Heanor. Our guys come out to have fun and get fit which I think showed and I’m sure they enjoyed it out there.

“There were spells in the game where we showed how good we can be and maybe in a few months we could match them.

Walking Football runs every Friday morning at 11am at Derby Arena and Sundays at Springwood Leisure Centre at 6pm. If you’re interested in giving it a go, just contact Lee at [email protected].
