What is Active Supporters?
Active Supporters is a 12-month programme which aims to increase the physical activity levels of males aged 18 years and older and reduce sedentary behaviour. Active Supporters was developed through our exciting partnership with Derby City Council’s Livewell service. In addition, it delivers a 12-month weight management programme and a smoking cessation service, in partnership with Derby City Council’s Livewell service.
As part of the programme, we aim to raise awareness of prevalent health issues and concerns specific to men, by linking into national campaigns. The programme recently received Comic Relief funding aimed at increasing the physical activity levels of homeless and those at risk of homelessness, to provide them with training and education opportunities to enable them to become job-ready.
We do things a little differently to the other Livewell programmes.
For starters, our 12-month free support is group-based and is tailored to men’s health issues.
It’s also based on the fitness and nutrition regimes followed by DCFC players so you’ll learn to eat and train like the pros through various sessions including:
- Gym Circuits
- Bootcamp Circuits
- Fuel Your Game (guidance and support to lose weight and eat healthy)
- Game Plan (goal setting sessions)
- Kick It (stop smoking sessions/workshops)
We know how hard it is to get fit, quit smoking and cut down on alcohol so, you’ll be pleased to hear that with support from a Livewell Active Supporters mentor, you’re 89% more likely to reach your health goals.
On top of that, you’ll have loads of laughs along the way at our sociable group sessions.
Who can join Active Supporters?
Active Supporters is open to men aged 18 to 60 years, currently living in Derby City and doing less than 60 minutes’ activity per week.
The transfer window is now open for new signings!
