Eight young Derby County fans picked up prizes this week from bakery brand Roberts Bakery for coming top of the votes league in a variety of soccer skills on the Fuel your Skills app.
The app – launched in August in partnership with Derby County Community Trust – allows youngsters to upload 30 second videos of skills involving shooting, control and target practice and has been backed by Derby County forward Tom Ince.
It’s all part of a drive by the family bakers to encourage Derby families to see bread as fuel for a healthy, active lifestyle.
The Cheshire firm also has a bakery in Ilkeston which employs 130 people and bakes 1.4 million products a week for supermarkets and independent retailers across the Derbyshire area.
Daniel Evans got the most votes throughout the summer to come out on top overall and also got the most admirers for his Rainbow Flick skill. He won tickets to a Derby County home game with hospitality, a signed football by Tom Ince and a signed Derby County shirt.
Second prize went to Charlie Smith who won a signed Derby shirt. Josh Yeomans had third most votes overall and won the Turn and Shoot skill league.
There were four winners in the Maradona 7 skill league – they were Pharrel Robinson, Zak Kirvan, Luke Oakley and Harvie Wright who all won signed footballs.
Lewis Clewley won the Take On skill and Oliver Abbott won the Target Strike with most votes for his skill. Each won a football.

Tom Ince who has backed the app from the start said: “Close ball control is so important in today’s game. This app will encourage young players to get much better at it and video their skills for sharing with friends and families. It’s great to see them getting involved and winning prizes!”
Robert Higginson, Chairman of Frank Roberts and Sons, and a big football fan said: “We are delighted with all the video uploads we have had so far. It’s great to see the youngsters and their families getting involved, their skills being recognised in a vote and their pleasure at winning great prizes from Derby County.”
There are chances to win all year round with the Fuel Your Skills app – you can download it and get involved here. The next competition period starts on 24th October 2016.
