Derby County first team players Chris Martin and Lee Grant surprised kids with an appearance at our ‘Ability Counts’ disability football session.
Wednesday 27th January saw DCFC first team players Chris Martin and Lee Grant attend Ability Counts, a disability football session organised by Derby County Community Trust, to the surprise of the excited youngsters.
Ability Counts is a PAN disability session, aimed at 5-11 year olds with any disability or special educational needs.
Throughout the session the players got involved in a number of activities including passing drills, shooting and even got involved in the match at the end.
The appearance of the players caused a real buzz of excitement and afterwards they took plenty of time to chat to the kids, sign shirts and pose for photographs.
Lee Grant said: “I thought the session was fantastic, the kids really enjoyed it and so did myself and Chris, we even started to get a bit competitive in the match towards the end. It was great to see a smile on everyone’s face, I had a great time!”
Disability Officer, Lauren Asquith “It was fantastic to have both Lee and Chris down to the session. They really engaged with the kids and it was great to see them getting involved with the activities. The kids are all avid Derby fans so were really excited and absolutely loved it”
